But who will advance?
WTA Adelaide Day 3 Predictions
Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Emma Navarro
Head-to-head: Alexandrova 1-0 Navarro
Emma Navarro had an amazing breakthrough season in 2024 and will be looking to go even higher in 2025, perhaps even aiming to win a Slam. Ekaterina Alexandrova won’t be an easy opponent but Navarro looks to be clearly on the ascent and should be the better player of the two going forward. Although she didn’t start the season well in Brisbane, she should have a slight edge here.
Prediction: Navarro in 3

Belinda Bencic vs Liudmila Samsonova
Head-to-head: Samsonova 4-1 Bencic
Belinda Bencic is fighting hard to get back to her best after injury completely derailed her late 2023 and all of her 2024 season. She looked good in the first round at the WTA Adelaide International, but this will be have a tough test for her. Liudmila Samsonova having won four of their five previous matches and has clearly enjoyed the match-up. Considering the fact that Bencic is still on the comeback trail, Samsonova has a great opportunity to further extend her head-to-head lead.
Prediction: Samsonova in 3
Ons Jabeur vs Yulia Putintseva
Head-to-head: Jabeur 3-0 Putintseva
Ons Jabeur’s 2024 season was cut short because of injury and she will be looking to get back into the top 10 this season and become a contender for Slams again. She hasn’t lost a single set in three matches against Yulia Putintseva, which proves that she generally has a clearly edge in this matchup and is the overall better player. If she can play close to her normal level, she should advance here.
Prediction: Jabeur in 2

Jelena Ostapenko vs Madison Keys
Head-to-head: Keys 3-2 Ostapenko
On paper, there is very little to choose between the two players. They have very similar levels and ranking and their head to head shows how evenly matched they have been so far. In their respective openers in Adelaide, Madison Keys did look more the impressive and that might just slightly tip the scales in her favour, but it should be a very tightly contested match.
Predictions: Keys in 3
