ATP Masters 1000 Montreal 1/8-Finals

Davidovich Fokina – Arnaldi: 09.08.2024 19:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Washington, Alejandro lost in the second round of the tournament against Cobolli in three tight sets. A week before that, Fokina reached the quarterfinals in Atlanta where he lost against Thompson in three tight sets. Here in Montreal, Fokina defeated Safiullin in the first round in straight sets as we predicted. After that, in the second round, Alejandro defeated Medvedev in three sets as we predicted. It was his biggest match of the season. Last year in Toronto, Fokina reached the semifinals where he lost against de Minaur in straight sets.

Matteo Arnaldi has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Arnaldi lost in the second round of the Olympic Games against Koepfer in three tight sets. Here in Montreal, Arnaldi defeated McDonald in three tight sets. McDonald won the first set, and was even 3-2 up in the second set with a break-up. However, Arnaldi stepped up his level and turned the match around. In the second round, Matteo defeated Khachanov in straight sets as we predicted. Last year in Toronto, Arnaldi lost in the second round against Medvedev.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Both players tend to be inconsistent in their matches. We expect a tight match, with three possible sets.

That being said, over games is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: over 22.5 games @1.80 @bet365

Sinner – Tabilo: 09.08.2024 21:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Jannik Sinner has won four of his last five matches. Since losing against Medvedev in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, Jannik has not played any tournaments. The number 1 was diagnosed with tonsillitis so he had to withdraw from the Olympic Games. Here in Montreal, Jannik defeated Coric in his first match after Wimbledon in straight sets. Jannik looked ready on the court, and dominated from the very start. Last year in Toronto, Sinner won the title, defeating de Minaur in the final.

Alejandro Tabilo has lost three of his five matches. Last week in Paris, Alejandro lost in the first round of the Olympic Games against Safiullin in straight sets. Here in Montreal, Tabilo defeated Tiafoe in the first round in straight sets as we predicted. Alejandro is looking to get a decent result this week to get into the top 20. After that, in the second round, Tabilo defeated Sonego in straight sets once again as we predicted. So far this season, the Chilean has won two ATP titles and played overall great throughout the whole season.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Sinner is the big favorite in this matchup. We obviously agree with that. However, Tabilo is a big server, and he has played two great matches so far in Montreal. We believe that he will eventually lose this match, but keep it tight.

That being said, Tabilo covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Alejandro Tabilo +4.5 games handicap @2.10 @bet365
