Day 2 at the second ATP Masters 1000 event of the year, in Miami, will not feature the seeds yet, but it is sure to feature a lot of very competitive and high-level matches. These early rounds at the March Masters 1000 are always extremely compelling and this surely won’t be an exception.
ATP Miami Day 2 Predictions
Alexei Popyrin vs Facundo Diaz Acosta
Head-to-head: first meeting
Diaz Acosta is having a really nice year, with a title in Buenos Aires as the best achievement of his career to date, but on a hard court he has never shown anything and Popyrin is clearly the superior player and should have a very clear edge here. Popyrin has been playing quite well this year too and should be able to advance here.
Prediction: Popyrin in 2
Martin Landaluce vs Jaume Munar
Head-to-head: first meeting
Landaluce is a very promising Spanish player, who has got many wins at lower levels and now finds himself in the main draw of a Masters 1000. While Munar is the far more experienced player and should theoretically have the edge here, Landaluce clearly has the higher potential and can definitely snatch a big win here.
Prediction: Landaluce in 3
Emil Ruusuvuori vs Yannick Hanfmann
Head-to-head: Hanfmann 1-0 Ruusuvuori
Ruusuvuori had an amazing start to the season, with a final in Hong Kong and a fantastic performance against Daniil Medvedev in Australia, despite losing in five sets. He wasn’t really able to maintain that level afterwards, but on a hardcourt he should have the edge over Hanfmann and make it to the second round.
Prediction: Ruusuvuori in 3
Lorenzo Sonego vs Dan Evans
Head-to-head: Sonego 3-0 Evans
Both players are having a very disappointing 2024, but Sonego is generally the more consistent player and he has a very clear edge in this matchup, having beaten Evans in all three of their previous matchups. It should be a very close match, but ultimately Sonego should be able to pull through.
Prediction: Sonego in 3
