Day 6 at the United Cup will feature a blockbuster matchup between Australia and Serbia, with Alex de Minaur and Novak Djokovic leading their respective nations. It should be a very tight matchup, potentially decided by the doubles bout.
United Cup Day 6 Predictions
Storm Hunter/Matthew Ebden vs Olga Danilovic/Novak Djokovic
Head-to-head: first meeting
Both teams were formed for the first time at this year’s United Cup, and both have been 100% victorious so far. While Djokovic is easily the best player of the four, the Hunter/Ebden team has been on fire, dominating both of their matches and winning with relative ease. Their team dynamic looks excellent and could give Australia a much-needed point in this matchup.
Prediction: Hunter/Ebden in 3
Ajla Tomljanović vs Olga Danilović
Head-to-head: first meeting
Both Ajla Tomljanovic and Olga Danilovic are winless so far in the United Cup. In fact, they’ve only won a set combined in four matches. Both are struggling a lot, but in general, Tomljanović is the higher-level player. She has been struggling to get back to a good level after a lengthy injury absence. All things considered, Tomljanovic should be able to pull through here.
Prediction: Tomljanović in 3
Alex de Minaur vs Novak Djokovic
Head-to-head: Djokovic 1-0 De Minaur
Calling this a bad matchup for De Minaur would be a huge understatement. When they faced last year at the Australian Open, Djokovic completely dismantled the Aussie, who had nothing to trouble him at all. As tenacious and consistent as De Minaur is, Djokovic seems to be better in pretty much every aspect of the game (almost like a bigger and stronger version of the Aussie). It will be extremely difficult for De Minaur to find a way to consistently win points against the world No. 1. Unless Djokovic has a really terrible day at the office, he should be able to get this point for Serbia.
Prediction: Djokovic in 2
