ATP Chengdu Semifinal Predictions Including Grigor Dimitrov vs Alexander Zverev

Grigor Dimitrov BNP Paribas Open-Day 12

The 2023 edition of the ATP Chengdu Open is drawing to an exciting close with just four players remaining in contention. Three of the top four seeds have made it to the final four and, as ever, we at LWOT preview and predict both semifinal clashes for you.

ATP Chengdu Semifinal Predictions

Lorenzo Musetti vs Roman Safiullin

Head to head – First Meeting

Both players enter this match having had solid performances in their opening round matches. Lorenzo Musetti looks well settled but he takes on the surprise package this tournament in Roman Safiullin. The Russian is known to be a dark horse and once he is in that sort of mood, he is very deadly.

This match should go down right to the wire but what is differentiating for me here is the Musetti backhand against the constant barrage from Safiullin. Expect Safiullin to continue his dream run here in Chengdu, China.
Prediction: Safiullin in 3

Grigor Dimitrov vs Alexander Zverev

Head to head – Dimitrov 1-6 Zverev

What a blockbuster semifinal match this one has the potential to be. The pair met very recently in the US Open and if the first two sets they played were anything to go by, this could be a classic.

Alexander Zverev has struggled in both his matches prior to this one while Grigor Dimitrov has waltzed through. The German does enjoy a pretty favorable head to head record and while the Bulgarian is expected to make a fast start, from the baseline it is Zverev who will eventually dictate more.
Prediction: Zverev in 2
