Dominic Thiem ahead of ATP Kitzbuhel

What an exciting finish we Are all about to witness at the ATP Kitzbuhel Open 2023. The four men remaining include top seeds, former grand slam champions, and young hopefuls. As ever, we at LWOT preview and predict both semifinal clashes for you.

ATP Kitzbuhel Semifinal Predictions

Sebastian Baez vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Head to head – Baez 1-1 Etcheverry

This should be a cracker of a contest and what makes this all the more interesting is that both are facing each other for the third time after having split their previous two meetings. Both players post Wimbledon had middling results but this week the men from Argentina have showcased their skills on their most favourable surface.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry is the top seed here after having notched up fine performances this year and he will be looking for his first-ever tour-level title. Sebastian Baez is lighting up the clay courts once again but it remains to be seen if he is able to hold his own on his serve. Expect Baez to start strong but as the match progresses, Etcheverry will have it easier with his better serve and more aggressive tennis.

Prediction: Etcheverry in 3

Laslo Djere vs Dominic Thiem

Head to head – Djere 1-1 Thiem

Could this be the week for Dominic Thiem to end his title drought stretching back to the US Open 2020 almost three years ago? The Austrian is certainly enjoying the home support and Thiem has fought tremendously hard to reach the last four. That being said, he will have his work cut out against Laslo Djere who is yet to drop a set this week.

The Serb is increasingly looking like the player which led him to two titles in his career and this is a great opportunity for Djere to add to the tally. Expect very long rallies but from the baseline, it should be Thiem who has the superior firepower, what remains to be seen is how confident he would be pulling the trigger in clutch moments. So far, he looks close to his former self and if that is the case, the Serb will eventually be broken down.

Prediction: Thiem in 3
