United Cup Day 2 Predictions Including Stan Wawrinka vs Alexander Bublik

Stan Wawrinka European Open

Day 2 at the United Cup will feature some very exciting matches, both ATP and WTA, including three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka representing Switzerland. The tournament might not feature the world’s very top players, but it still promises plenty of excitement. We also predict the rest of the day’s matches, split between two other articles. One features Maria Sakkari vs Viktoriya Tomova and the second features Jessica Pegula vs Petra Kvitova.

United Cup Day 2 Predictions

Adrian Mannarino vs Federico Coria

Head-to-head: first meeting

Mannarino is already a veteran of the circuit at this point but he’s still playing at a very good top 50 level and on a hard court he should still have a clear over Coria, who’s never achieved any relevant results on this surface and relies on clay to maintain his top 100 ranking.
Prediction: Mannarino in 2

Caroline Garcia vs Nadia Podoroska

Head-to-head: Garcia 1-0
Garcia had a stellar end of 2022 and is a very clear favorite here against an opponent ranked #195. The world #4 reached the semifinals at the US Open and then went on to win the WTA finals to end the best season of her career in a blaze of glory. She’ll be hoping to have an even better 2023 and fulfill all the potential she has been deemed to have since she was young and up-and-coming.
Prediction: Garcia in 2

Jil Teichmann vs Zhibek Kulambayeva

Head-to-head: first meeting
On paper, this match should have very little history. Kulambayeva is ranked outside the Top 700 and should pose little to no threat against a Top 40 player in Teichmann, who should be able to score an easy win for Switzerland here.
Prediction: Teichmann in 2

Stan Wawrinka vs Alexander Bublik

Head-to-head: Bublik 2-0 Wawrinka

Bublik does lead 2-0 in the head-to-head, but one of those wins was a very tight three set match on clay in Monte Carlo and the other in a match where Wawrinka was forced to withdraw due to injury after only three games. There’s every reason to believe this will a very tight encounter, very difficult to call. Wawrinka surely has a great chance to score a first victory in this matchup.
Prediction: Wawrinka in 3
