WTA Tallinn Day 4 Predictions Including Anett Kontaveit vs Tereza Martincova

Anett Kontaveit in action ahead of the WTA Qatar Open.

Day 4 at the WTA event in Tallin will feature four Round of 16 matches, with the world #4 and #1 seed of this tournament Anett Kontaveit heading the field as she looks to capture the title on home soil. Plenty of other exciting action is to be expected this Thursday in Tallin though.

WTA Tallin Day 4 Predictions

Ysaline Bonaventure vs Jil Teichmann

Head-to-head: Bonaventure 2-1 Teichmann

Despite the fact that Teichmann is the far higher ranked player, she’s at best a slight favorite here. She has been in terrible form lately, while Bonaventure comes into this match on the back of a great upset win against Shelby Rogers. Bonnaventure also leads the head-to-head 2-1 even if all three matches occurred in 2019. This should be a very tight match, one that could genuinely go either way.
Prediction: Bonaventure in 3

Shuai Zhang vs Donna Vekic

Head-to-head: Zhang 4-1 Vekic

Zhang is having a great season at the age of 33, while Vekic has struggled with injuries over the past three years and hasn’t won back-to-back matches in the past three months. Zhang has also dominated the previous matchups between the pair, even if the most recent one goes all the way back to September 2017. She should have the edge here.
Prediction: Zhang in 2

Ann Li vs Kaia Kanepi

Head-to-head: first meeting

Veteran Kaia Kanepi is having a very good season and will be extremely motivated playing at her home tournament, especially after the way she got past Jelena Ostapenko in her previous matches. Li has been struggling this season and despite being the much younger player with more upside at the moment she comes into this match as a clear underdog against the hometown hero.
Prediction: Kanepi in 3

Anett Kontaveit vs Tereza Martincova

Head-to-head: Kontaveit 2-0 Martincova

Kontaveit is the world #4 and was recently #2 despite having no big titles to her name and only one Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance (which she lost) precisely because she’s very consistent at tour level and accumulates a lot of points. She’s rightly considered the favorite to win her home event here in Tallinn and on paper Martincova shouldn’t pose too much of a threat.
Prediction: Kontaveit in 2
