WTA Parma Day 2 Predictions Including Irina-Camelia Begu vs Viktorya Tomova

WTA Parma day 2 sees 11 matches taking place, meaning we’ve got three sets of predictions lined up for you all. The likes of Irina-Camelia Begu and Martina Trevisan are looking to cement their status as title contenders with strong first outings. However, a deep draw with several unfamiliar faces mean the chance of an upset or two is high. With that in mind, let’s get stuck into the four matches covered in this set of WTA Parma day 2 predictions.

WTA Parma Day 2 Predictions

Maryna Zanevska vs Lucia Bronzetti

Head-to-head: 2 – 0 Zanevska

This looks like it could be a one-sided affair. Maryna Zanevska blew Lucia Bronzetti off the court in their last metting earlier this year. The Belgian lost just one game across the two sets and was dominant throughout. Lucia Bronzetti has burst onto the WTA Tour this year and looks a real talent for the future. The Italian is particularly good on clay, However, that result in Bucharest earlier this year is hard to ignore. Zanevska should win again here.

Prediction: Zanevska in 2

Matilde Paoletti vs Gabriela Lee

Head-to-head: 1 – 0 Paoletti

Matilde Paoletti is another young Italian on the rise. She claimed her first ITF title earlier this year and has rocketed up over 500 ranking spots since the end of 2021. She is still over 200 spots away from Gabriela Lee. The Romanian has never made any real dents at WTA Tour level and would love a deep run here in order to change that. However, the pair met earlier this year and Paoletti won that match comfortably in straight sets. Given the Italian’s recent form and confidence, I expect a similar result here.

Prediction: Paoletti in 2

Arantxa Rus vs Panna Udvardy

Head-to-head: First meeting

It’s been a while since Panna Udvardy has done anything of note on the WTA Tour. However, she has had great success at ITF level in recent months. Aranxta Rus also struggles on the WTA Tour and has rarely finished a year comfortably inside the top 100. However, she is a wily veteran with a serious competitive edge who won’t go quietly. Udvardy is the better player on clay and in better form so I’ll back her to edge a tight one here.

Prediction: Udvardy in 3

Irina-Camelia Begu vs Viktorya Tomova

Head-to-head: First meeting

Begu is having a brilliant year in 2022 and is a definite contender for the title here in Parma. The Romanian Is fresh of a Challenger Tour victory and won a clay court event on in Palermo on the WTA Tour earlier this year. Viktorya Tomova is a solid player in a good run of form herself, but it’s hard to see her getting the win here.

Prediction: Begu in 3
