WTA Warsaw Day 4 Predictions Including Caroline Garcia vs Elisabetta Cocciaretto

Caroline Garcia

Day 4 of WTA action in Warsaw features six Round 2 matches that offer plenty of intrigue. Former World #4 Caroline Garcia takes on young Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto as both women look to punch a ticket to the quarterfinals. We at LWOT have the prediction for that match as well as all other happenings around the ground of Warsaw, including in a separate article. Who do you think will win?

WTA Warsaw Day 4 Predictions

Jasmine Paolini vs Clara Burel

Head-to-Head: first meeting

World #58 Jasime Paolini will take on 21-year-old Clara Burel with a spot in the Warsaw quarterfinals on the line. After reaching the semifinals in Palmero last week, Paolini is starting to play with the confidence she lacked at the beginning of the season. Burel has won just two of her last eight matches and is seemingly going through a lean period that all young players endure. I favor the Italian in this match, who should have some extra motivation in what is turning into an open draw in Warsaw.
Prediction: Paolini in 2

Petra Martic vs Maja Chwalinska

Head-to-Head: first meeting

#8 seed Petra Martic will take on Polish wild card Maja Chwalinska in Round 2 in Warsaw. Martic, who won the title in Lausanne two weeks ago, has dropped just one set over her last six matches. 20-year-old Chwalinska will certainly be up against it on Thursday. The young Pole picked up her second career tour-level victory on Monday but does not have the consistency or power to match Martic over three sets.
Prediciton: Martic in 2

Caroline Garcia vs Elisabetta Cocciaretto

Head-to-Head: Garcia 3-0 Cocciaretto

#5 seed Caroline Garcia had a very strong grass-court swing and is looking to carry that momentum to the second half of the year. Holding an 8-3 record on the clay this season, she should feel strong about her prospects against current World #105 Elisabetta Cocciaretto. The 21-year-old Italian has been a force at the ITF level and is looking to transition her game up a notch. She looked solid in her straight-set Round 1 victory, but that was against World #472 Martyna Kubka. An in-form Garcia is a big step up and someone I do not see Cocciaretto getting by.
Prediction: Garcia in 3
