French Open Day 4 – Men’s Best Bets Including Novak Djokovic vs Alex Molcan

Novak Djokovic in action at the ATP Madrid Open.

We move onto second-round action at the French Open in Paris on Day 4, now being able to use the players’ first-round performances to better judge what they will do here. Here’s where we can find some value.

French Open Day 4 Men’s Best Bets

Aljaz Bedene vs Pablo Cuevas

Bedene looked quite good in his opening-round win over Christopher O’Connell, which was priced as a major upset. Cuevas beat Jenson Brooksby losing just five games but it seems like the bookmakers have overrated him for this match-up as he is a considerable favorite against the Slovene. I agree that Cuevas is perhaps a slight favorite in this match considering he has won their two previous meetings but I believe there is a good amount of value in Bedene’s odds.

Recommended selection:
Bedene ML – 2 units @ +142 (2.42, 71/50)

Mikael Ymer vs Dan Evans

Ymer has had a surprisingly bad year on clay, coming into Roland Garros winless including losses to Roman Safiullin and Nerman Fatic. He seemed to leave it behind in his first-round win over James Duckworth though, taking it in straight sets. Evans is priced as a big favorite here after he beat Francisco Cerundolo in the first round. I think it is entirely possible the Swede will win here just because his game is so much better suited for clay tennis compared to Evans.

Recommended selection:
Ymer ML – 2 units @ +180 (2.80, 9/5)

Novak Djokovic vs Alex Molcan

Djokovic looked really strong in his opener, allowing Yoshihito Nishioka only four games. Predicting him to drop a set in the next round might be foolish but Molcan is probably in the best position to do so out of the unseeded players. Not only is the Slovak coming off a final the week before and looked good in his first-round win over Federico Coria, he also has the advantage of having Marian Vajda in his corner. It’s a daring one but it does not feel impossible and would be good value at around +300.

Recommended selection:
Djokovic 3-1 – 1 unit @ +295 (3.95, 59/20)

My Best Bets record so far: 45 units returned 52.03 including stake.

Recommended selections are based on a 5-unit betting system where 1 unit is a minimum stake, and 5 units is the maximum stake.
