ATP/WTA April 8 Best Bets – Featuring Nick Kyrgios and Michael Mmoh

Nick Kyrgios enjoyed a fine run in Indian Wells.

The action is heating up as we reach the business end of the first week of the clay court season. Let’s take a look at some of the best bets of the day. Tennis on the red dirt can be gruelling; it looks like a couple of favourites are likely to fatigued and worth fading.

ATP/WTA April 8 Best Bets

ATP Marrakech QF: David Goffin vs. Roberto Carballes Baena

I was on Goffin’s side through the first couple of matches this week, I think it’s time to switch against him. Goffin required almost three hours to get the better of Pablo Andujar in the second round, back on court less than 24 hours after that tiring battle against another solid Spaniard is a big challenge. I see value with Carballes Baena as the slight underdog in this situation. Carballes Baena has looked good this week with a pair of straight set wins over Marco Cecchinato and Joao Sousa. Goffin easily defeated Carballes Baena on a hard court in Miami a few weeks ago. This is a totally different scenario, a favourable surface for Carballes Baena and fatigue potentially a factor for Goffin.

Roberto Carballes Baena ML – 1 unit @ +121

WTA Bogota QF: Mirjam Bjorklund vs. (Q) Tatjana Maria

I can’t really justify Tatjana Maria being such a strong favourite in this spot against Mirjam Bjorklund. Granted, Maria is vastly more experienced at this level. However, I see that as a potential issue here. The 34-year-old has already four matches this week having come through the qualifying draw and is surely starting to fatigue. Bjorklund has barely raised a sweat this week through a couple of straight set victories and heads into the biggest match of her young career fresh and with nothing to lose. I see value with the Swede in this situation.

Recommended Selections:
Mirjam Bjorklund ML – 1 unit @ +185

ATP Houston QF: Michael Mmoh vs. Nick Kyrgios

I’d like to fade Kyrgios is some capacity as a strong favourite on a clay court. The smartest option is probably to take the games over. Mmoh has an athletic style of his own that’s well suited to the clay and has absolutely nothing to lose in this matchup. A Kyrgios meltdown is never too far away, he is due for one this week. I’d expect at least one close set to push the total games over.

Recommended Selections:
Total games over 19.5 – 1.5 units @ -114

Recommended selections are based on a 5-unit betting system where 1 unit is a minimum stake, and 5 units is the maximum stake.
