ATP Miami Day 3 Predictions Including Borna Coric vs Alexander Zverev

Borna Coric ATP Miami 2022

Borna Coric and Thanasi Kokkinakis are seeking their own comeback stories on the ATP Tour, both will be bidding for upsets in the second round of ATP Miami on day 3 of the Miami Open. We have predictions for every day 3 match at the tournament.

Diego Schwartzman vs Thanasi Kokkinakis

Kokkinakis qualified for both Indian Wells and Miami, the Australian is fit an firing and already has an ATP title this season. Schwartzman had an excellent clay court season but hard courts have not been as welcoming for him. Schwartzman is the higher ranked player but momentum favors Kokkinakis who looks set to secure an upset victory. Kokkinakis in 3

Denis Kudla vs Lorenzo Sonego

Kudla qualified, he’s needed three sets to win all his matches this week. Kudla has won eight straight matches dating back to the start of the Phoenix Challenger. He’s playing very well but fatigue will be a factor, the trouble for Sonego is he’s struggling, Sonego has lost four straight and there’s little sign he’s going to turn things around and get this win. Kudla looks well positioned to survive and advance. Kudla in 2

Grigor Dimitrov vs Mackenzie McDonald

Dimitrov won their only meeting, McDonald was a quarterfinalist in Dubai and is looking to do one better in Miami than he did at Indian Wells (lost in the second round). Dimitrov was a quarterfinalist in Delray Beach and Indian Wells, he’s not an elite player anymore, but he’s a good player all the same, Dimitrov should prove too much for McDonald. Dimitrov in 2

Borna Coric vs Alexander Zverev

\

A right shoulder injury kept Borna Coric out of the headlines last season, the Croatian is back and sports a 3-2 h2h against his second-round opponent Alexander Zverev. Zverev won both his Davis Cup matches recently but struggled otherwise, losing his second match in Acapulco and his opening tilt in Indian Wells. The German is looking vulnerable while Coric is playing his third match since last year, he beat qualifier Fernando Verdasco in the opening round for his first win in a year. Coric is a total wild card here, Zverev is capable but in poor form. I’m not sure who figures their opponent out first but the safe pick is Zverev despite the h2h. Zverev in 2
