Marcos Giron vs Tallon Griekspoor

Head to head: First Meeting

Marcos Giron will be pleased he doesn’t have to play the likes of Andy Murray in his first round. The American takes on qualifier Tallon Griekspoor in a match that sees Giron enter as the favorite. Giron has been playing well in indoor conditions since last year, and his firepower from the back of the court is a joy to watch. Expect Giron to make a strong start to his campaign here.

Peter Gojowczyk vs Jan-Lennard Struff

Head to head: First Meeting

Peter Gojowczyk doesn’t enter this match with a lot of confidence with early exits in the Challenger tournaments the German played prior to coming here. Jan-Lennard Struff had a decent outing in the ATP Cup but a first round exit in Melbourne makes him all the more eager to regain his form. Struff can outhit Gojowczyk from the back of the court and with the elder German not looking at his best, expect Struff to progress through.
Prediction: Struff in 3

Andy Murray vs Egor Gerasimov

Head to head: First Meeting

Andy Murray makes a highly anticipated return the the ATP main tour this year. The Brit reached the final in the Challenger tournament he played in a couple of weeks ago, which should help him to shake off any rustiness. However, Egor Gerasimov is an aggressive baseliner and won’t be going away so easily. That being said, Murray defends as well as anybody when at his best and the Brit should manage to fight it out and get the win.
Prediction: Murray in 3
