French Open Day 7 Men’s Predictions Including Kevin Anderson vs Andrey Rublev

Andrey Rublev vs Kevin Anderson is an intriguing French Open day 7 matchup. Our panel of Damian Kust and Yesh Ginsburg offer their predictions for this and the rest of the matches on the schedule.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Aljaz Bedene

Yesh: Tsitsipas looked in great form in his last match after a slow start in the opening round. He now should be able to challenge just about anyone and go deep in this tournament. Tsitsipas in 3

Damian: Bedene upset Tsitsipas in Rotterdam this year and I’d maybe fancy him to do it again indoors or on another rather fast surface. But power seems to be the deciding factor on the Parisian clay this year and after the demolition against Pablo Cuevas, it would feel unwise to pick against the Greek. Tsitsipas in 3

Daniel Altmaier vs Matteo Berrettini

Yesh: Altmaier has played very well this tournament, making the most of this opportunity right now. Berrettini is talented and a future star, but I think the German has one more surprise in him. Altmaier in 5

Damian: Daniel Altmaier has been playing the best tennis of his life these past two weeks in Paris, winning five matches on the spin to get into the third round. But he hasn’t faced an opponent of Berrettini’s class yet and I expect the big serve and forehand to be a little too overwhelming for the German. It won’t be that comfortable though. Berrettini in 4

Karen Khachanov vs Cristian Garin

Yesh: Neither of these guys has looked amazing in this tournament, though both have tons of talent. Khachanov has the bigger game, but Garin is more trustworthy in crunch time and is more comfortable on the clay. Garin in 4

Damian: Cristian Garin has been continuing his fine form on the clay in 2020, reaching the semifinals in Hamburg and going through the first two rounds here. Karen Khachanov is not playing great tennis recently and he’s just a subpar clay-courter when compared to the Chilean. Garin in 4

Kevin Anderson vs Andrey Rublev

Yesh: Anderson has found his form this tournament. Normally I’d say that he can’t come close to touching Rublev on clay, but by all rights Rublev should have been quickly sent packing by Sam Querrey in the first round. Give me the big server. Anderson in 3

Damian: Kevin Anderson did well to achieve a vintage run here but he’s running into a player whose game is so complete now that he might even go all the way at a Slam soon. Probably not on clay though, but provided he isn’t too exhausted from his Hamburg run, his game is good enough on this surface to keep going here. Rublev in 4
