ATP Metz Day 2 Predictions Including Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Pablo Andujar

The 2019 Moselle Open first round will be completed on Tuesday. In the afternoon matches, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will contest Pablo Andujar and wild card Rayane Roumane will try to upset Aljaz Bedene. In addition to these, we also have predictions for the rest of Tuesday’s matches.

ATP Metz Day 2 Predictions

Lorenzo Sonego vs Oscar Otte

Head-to-head: Sonego 2-0

It’s been a breakthrough season for Sonego. The Italian captured his maiden ATP title in Antalya and is still playing well, winning a Challenger title in Genoa two weeks ago. Otte has managed to qualify for the event, defeating Artem Dubrivnyy and Maxime Janvier. The German rarely plays on hard courts and in their only meeting this year in the first week of the season, Sonego comfortably won 6-3 6-2. Barring some rustiness due to a change of surface, there is no reason to expect a different result here.
Prediction: Sonego in 2

Julian Lenz vs Pablo Carreno Busta

Head-to-head: First meeting

Lenz was still playing doubles in a clay-court Challenger on Friday, but he’s managed to come to Metz and qualify with wins over Constant Lestienne and Matthias Bachinger. The German has only played on clay since April, but had some decent results indoors in the early stages of the season. However, Carreno Busta should be way too consistent and the German doesn’t really have the weapons required to blow him off the court.
Prediction: Carreno Busta in 2

Aljaz Bedene vs Rayane Roumane

Head-to-head: First meeting

Tempted to go for the upset here. Roumane played brilliant at a Challenger in Cassis two weeks ago. He lost to eventual champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga after beating Quentin Halys and Sergei Stakhovsky. The 19-year-old showed a lot of potential in that tournament and it’s not like Bedene is an indoor hard court master. The Slovenian has played Davis Cup on clay in Egypt on the weekend and he will not be allowed an easy opening here. This can go very wrong, but with the help of the French crowd, Roumane might be the pick.
Prediction: Roumane in 3

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Pablo Andujar

Head-to-head: Tsonga 2-0

It was certainly a good decision to play the Cassis Challenger. Tsonga got five matches under his belt and will come to the Moselle Open with a lot of confidence. Andujar was part of the US Open surprise package, getting his best Grand Slam result absolutely out of nowhere. That one was mostly on the draw opening up and beating Tsonga won’t be as easy. The Frenchman has always done well at these French indoor tournaments and he’s a three-time champion of the event. In fast conditions, his serve and forehand combination is just as brutal as it was in his prime.

Prediction: Tsonga in 2
