ATP Metz Day 2 Predictions Including Marcel Granollers vs Richard Gasquet

ATP Metz Richard Gasquet

All remaining first-round matches will be played on Tuesday at the 2019 Moselle Open. The Centre Court will see five Frenchman opening their Metz campaigns. Who will prevail? In addition to this set, we also have predictions for the rest of the day’s matches.

ATP Metz Day 2 Predictions

Hubert Hurkacz vs Gregoire Barrere

Head-to-head: 1-1

Barrere got an indoor hard court win over the Pole in the beginning of the year. That one can be attributed to Hurkacz running out of steam in the third set, and he will be much better physically prepared here. The sixth seed won his maiden ATP title in Winston-Salem, but was since ousted in the US Open first rounf by Jeremy Chardy and lost 3-6 1-6 to Tsitsipas in the Davis Cup. Barrere has been playing good tennis all summer, qualifying and making it to round two at both Wimbledon and the US Open. With the home crowd advantage, the French wildcard should be able to give Hurkacz a challenge.
Prediction: Hurkacz in 3

Jan-Lennard Struff vs Pierre-Hugues Herbert

Head-to-head: Struff 4-1

The German has a good lead in the head-to-head but they haven’t played in two years. Herbert also managed to win one of their two indoor meetings. The Frenchman has decided to shift his focus to singles and that has given mixed results so far. Struff is having the best season of his life and in these faster conditions, his serve should be deadly.
Prediction: Struff in 3
Editor’s Note: An earlier edition of this article accidentally listed Herbert instead of Struff as the writer’s prediction.

Marcel Granollers vs Richard Gasquet

Head-to-head: Gasquet 3-0

An interesting head-to-head, with three Grand Slam meetings and a four sets win for Gasquet in each. After missing the first six months of the season due to hernia surgery, the Frenchman found his old form in the American hard court season. Although the US Open ended for him with a disappointing first-round loss to eventual semifinalist Matteo Berrettini, there’s no reason to expect that Gasquet will come out flat here. Granollers is mostly a doubles player at this point and will struggle to win rallies against the Frenchman’s fantastic shotmaking. He did well to come through qualifying but Albano Olivetti and Adrian Menendez Maceiras aren’t the toughest of draws you can get to reach the main draw in an ATP tournament.
Prediction: Gasquet in 2
