WTA Washington Open Semifinal Predictions Including Caty McNally vs Camila Giorgi

Semifinal day here at the Washington Open brings four surprising semi-finalists. Out of the four players, only one, Camila Giorgi, has ever won a WTA singles title. But none of them has even reached a final this year. It will be two fascinating semifinal matchups as it will be interesting to see how these players nerves will hold up in arguably their biggest match of the year.

Washington Open Semifinal Predictions

Jessica Pegula vs Anna Kalinskaya

Head-to-head: first meeting

The 25-year-old Russian qualifier has been impressive all week and has already won five matches (including qualifying) here at the Washington Open.

It seems as though Kalinskaya is on a roll at the moment with her tennis. And based on historical patterns, if any player is playing with such confidence like how Kalinskaya is playing right now- they are incredibly tough to stop.

Prediction: Kalinskaya in 2

Caty McNally vs Camila Giorgi

Head-to-head: first meeting

The talented 17-year-old Caty McNally’s dream run here at Washington continues as she dispatched the only seeded player, Su-Wei Hsieh in straight sets.

Giorgi, meanwhile, has had her own dream run here as well. The Italian has not won a single match in over 6 months and is now through to the semifinals. It should be a close encounter considering how in-form both players are this week.

But McNally should be the slight favourite coming in. Simply because she has seemed the more focused and mentally stronger player out of the two. Also with the home support, it should get her through.

Prediction: McNally in 3
