ATP Washington Open Semifinal Predictions Including Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Nick Kyrgios

Stefanos Tsitsipas Washington Open

Just four men remain in contention to lift the Washington Open title after five days of thrilling tennis in D.C. But will it be the fast-rising Stefanos Tsitsipas or the enigmatic Nick Kyrgios who reaches the title-match? Will it be third seed Daniil Medvedev or the unheralded Peter Gojowczyk who books their place in the final?

Washington Open Semifinal Predictions

Daniil Medvedev vs Peter Gojowczyk

Head-to-head: first meeting

Russia’s Medvedev has had an impressively consistent year. This week, he has looked sharp, beating Bjorn Fratangelo, Frances Tiafoe and Marin Cilic, all without dropping a set. The qualifier Gojowczyk, meanwhile, has been in the form of his life, stunning eighth seed Milos Raonic in the round of 16 before battling past 13th seed Kyle Edmund in three-sets to reach the semifinals. But as well as Gojowczyk has been playing, it is hard to see him getting past Medvedev. The third seed covers the court superbly well and will likely give away almost no unforced errors.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Nick Kyrgios

Head-to-head: first meeting

Erstwhile doubles partners Tsitsipas and Kyrgios are set to meet in what looks like the match of the day at the Washington Open. Both men come into the match in fine form, Kyrgios particularly so, and this looks set to be a thrilling encounter. Though Kyrgios’ temper did get the better of him in the last 16, he has won all three of his matches without dropping a set and his serve and forehand have been firing. They will need to be against Tsitsipas, also yet to drop a set. The Greek has the power to do damage to Kyrgios, but the Australian has been serving well enough that it’s hard to see him losing.
