Larissa Falls continues her popular series breaking down the names and numbers from Round Eight of the French Top14:

  • Three teams racked up more than 40 points: Bordeaux (46 points), Lyon (42 points), Toulon (41 points)

  • Montpellier was the only side to lose at home, which also meant that newly promoted Oyonnax were the sole team to win on the road
  • Paddy Jackson became the first player to hit a ‘full house’ this season. Against Bayonne, he scored one try, took four conversions, two penalties, and even had time for one drop-goal. A real handful’
  • Four clubs scored a try in both the opening five minutes, and the last five minutes of their games: Racing 92, Bordeaux, Pau and Montpellier
  • No team in Round Eight had fewer than 10 missed tackles
  • Damien Penaud is the most economical try scorer with five tries in three games. He’s also the only player to have crossed four times in a single match so far this season

  • Bayonne made the most 22m entries with 17, yet they still went on to lose 42-29 versus Lyon
  • Toulouse v Clermont was the only clash where no cards were issued
  • Oyonnax never led in their first half against Montpellier. And Montpellier never led in their second half against Oyonnax
  • There were five multiple try scorers in Round Eight: Penaud (Bordeaux, four tries), Tuicuvu (Toulon, two tries), Drean (Toulon, two tries), Regard (Lyon, two tries) and Tauzin (Toulouse, two tries).

  • Bordeaux created the most line breaks with 12, whilst Stade Francais failed to make even one! [
  • Stade Francais and La Rochelle trailed for 100% of their respective matches
  • Toulouse’s victory over Clermont was their 23rd undefeated match at home
  • Two players received Red Cards: Toulon’s centre Jeremy Sinzelle, and La Rochelle’s experienced winger Teddy Thomas.
