From the sublime to the ridiculous, the really good to the really Really good, 14 fun facts emerged after Round Two of the French Top14. Larissa Falls has continued an off-piste recap of the opening weekend’s results.

14 Fun Facts from Top14 Round Two

  • Stade Francais Zach Henry was the top points scorer of the Round with 18 (6 penalties)
  • There were two multiple try-scorers: Lyon’s Xavier Mignot, and Toulouse’s Sofiane Guitoune
  • Perpignan is the only club yet to win a match
  • Stade Francais Joris Segonds was the only player to strike a drop-goal this Round, and only the second player of the season; after Camille Lopez, who hit two last weekend.

Scoring tries, holding possession, offloads and Rucks won

  • Two teams- Perpignan and Bayonne- failed to notch a single first-half point
  • Oyonnax were the only side to have led at half time (9-11), yet go on to lose (28-18) maybe ‘not so’ 14 Fun Facts for some!
  • Toulouse scored more tries in a single game (6) than any other club so far this season
  • Stade Francais are the sole team to have won both opening games, and they also top the standings/ladder

  • Perpignan had more possession (53%), beat more defenders (34 v 20), they had more offloads (15 v 4), won more rucks, and had a higher tackle success rate yet, still Lost large: 38-14- to Clermont. Sacre bleu!
  • There were no away victories in round two – Home Sides Rule.
  • Toulouse has the highest first-half points tally of the season with 26 (v Montpellier)

Highest points gained, or just the first try scored: 14 fun facts

  • Two games ended within a two-point margin: Pau v Racing (19-17) and Bordeaux v Castres (25-23)
  • Lyon’s Winger Xavier Mignot is the top try-scorer with four. He has managed a brace of tries in both rounds
  • Toulon took the longest amount of time to score their opening Try this season; 143 minutes in total!
