Leinster and Wasps to ‘Kick-off’ European Rugby 2018/19 fixtures

Two months since the pool draws were announced the European Rugby 2018/19 fixtures have finally been confirmed. Fans can now book their flights, find a hotel and follow their team across the continent.

Holders Leinster (see main picture) will kick-off the first round of fixtures in October, when they host Wasps on Friday 12th at the RDS Arena. Few would bet against the champions not retaining their title, although European rugby powers Saracens, Racing 92 and Montpellier will have something to say about that.

Aside from the opening fixture, highlights of the draw will be Exeter Chiefs vs Munster on the first Saturday. The English side will be motivated to further establish themselves as a European power.

In the back-to-back fixtures in Rounds Three and Four, Wasps vs Toulouse, Racing 92 vs Leicester Tigers, and Toulon vs Montpellier look set to provide excitement and will have a big impact on their respective pools.

In Round Five the Friday night clash between Gloucester and Munster should be a fantastic spectacle given the two sides’ previous clashes in this competition. Similarly Toulon’s trip to Newcastle Falcons in Round Six could be pivotal to that pool’s outcome.

Challenge Cup 2018/19 fixtures also confirmed

The Challenge Cup opens up with some fixtures worthy of the main competition. Indeed, Northampton Saints vs Clermont Auvergne was a Champions Cup fixture last season.

Gallagher Premiership new boys Bristol Bears face a winter double-header against La Rochelle in December, and Ospreys vs Stade Français could also be a tasty tie. You can view the full fixture list via the link below.
