What’s up, Internet? For the second week in a row, the trio of Rachael Kriger, Felipe Vallejo and Jamie Rooke bring you all the discussion about MLS Week 1.
Last Word SC Radio: Recapping MLS Week 1, St. Louis’ Shocking Win
The trio react to St. Louis’ shocking win over Austin FC, 3-2, to kick off their MLS debut. Meanwhile, Rachael gives all the credit to Nashville, while Jamie gives insight into the New England victory. Felipe laments the Whitecaps loss, while Rachael gives Jordan Morris and the Seattle Sounders their kudos.
The three then give their thumbs up and thumbs down of the week. Felipe can’t stop talking about St. Louis and South African manager Bradley Carnell, while Jamie and Rachael discuss tactics from FC Dallas and Seattle.
Finally, the crew does pick ’ems and for last words, Felipe gives an update into the Canadian Soccer Association’s new management. Rachael discusses the news of Wendie Renard, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani’s decision to step away from the French women’s national team until changes are made to coaching and the federation.

Hailing from Moscow, Russia, she resides in Ocala, Florida, where she is a youth minister. Rachael is a big fan of her home country’s national teams and cried when Russia beat Spain in the World Cup Round of 16. However, Rachael has to admit that basketball was her first love and still keeps in contact with that sport through coaching.
Daniel Sperry is an Editor at Last Word on Soccer. He covers mainly Sporting KC and U.S. Soccer for LWOS and discusses San Francisco Giants baseball elsewhere. He was born and raised in Northern California, hence his love for Bay Area teams. He currently resides in the KC Suburbs with his incredible wife and energetic puppy. Jamie Rooke is LWOS’ man from across the pond, born down in Devon but studying sports journalism up in London. He lives and breathes the sport whether it be watching his beloved Plymouth Argyle or covering the New England Revolution. When he’s not doing that, he’s probably watching basketball, boxing or F1, cooking, reading, listening to anyone from Loyle Carner to ABBA or just nerding out over Harry Potter as a proud Hufflepuff!
