Ryan Newman is alive and well.
Thankfully, approximately 42 hours following a last-lap crash in Monday night’s Daytona 500 where Newman’s car was flipped and t-boned, the Indiana native walked out of the hospital on Wednesday holding the hands of his daughters.
Roush Fenway Racing tweeted at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday that the driver of the No. 6 Ford was released from Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Attached to it is a picture of Newman holding hands with his daughters.

This came two hours after the team published that Newman was “fully alert and walking around (the hospital). True to his jovial nature, he has also been joking around with staff, friends and family while spending time playing with his two daughters.”
Attached in a followup tweet was a picture of him in hospital wardrobe, with his arm around his daughters.
What this means for Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is unknown, as a team representative couldn’t be reached at the time this article was published.
The No. 6 Ford was listed driver-less on the preliminary entry list for the NASCAR Cup Series Pennzoil 400.
Newman was in the hospital for the last two days, after his wreck on the final lap of Monday’s Daytona 500, where he finished ninth on his roof.
The NASCAR Cup Series will return to the track for its next event on Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally by FOX.
Qualifying for the race will take place on Saturday at 2:35 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on FS1.
