In a statement released by On Point Motorsports, Ryan Vargas said,
“I’m beyond thrilled to join On Point Motorsports for the 2023 Season. I told myself heading into this offseason that it was time for a change. I knew that I was ready to take on a new challenge. Having never made a Truck Series start, I really felt that this year was the perfect time for me to make the move into a competitive Truck Series entry. There’s no denying what Bones and his team have done are nothing short of impressive. With a bunch of top-10 finishes and opportunities to make it to victory lane, I knew I had found myself a fantastic new home.”
Vargas’ Xfinity Career
Vargas, known for his time in the #6 Camaro for JD Motorsports in the Xfinity Series will be swapping rides and series in 2023. The California native had a strong season in the K&N Pro Series East in 2018 where he had an average finish of 11th and ranked 6th in the points standings. His results caught the eye of JD Motorsports, where in 2019 he would run three races, finishing a best of 17th.
Vargas’ breakout season came during the 2020 season when he landed TikTok as a title sponsor for the final six races. He scored his first Top Ten at Texas, finishing eighth. In 2022, he out-qualified cars with more funding and resources. Vargas qualified eighth at Daytona and seventh at Talladega. His career-best finish came at the summer Daytona race, finishing sixth.
Using his over half a million followers on various social media platforms, he has brought in new sponsors like TikTok, NFL star Alvin Kamara’s The Big Squeezy, and most recently, Reddit. He is also a devoted learner, spending time in the race shop preparing his cars for coming races. His new ride in the Truck Series is an excellent learning opportunity and will be exciting to see what results he can produce in his new home.
