Silverstone: W Series Preview, Predictions & How to Watch

Silverstone - W Series

The W Series returns as Jamie Chadwick looks to continue her perfect season with a home race win at Silverstone.

It’s been over a month since the W Series left Barcelona with Jamie Chadwick in comfortable control of the Championship. After three rounds, Chadwick has three wins, two poles, and one fastest lap. Now she and the W Series head to perhaps the marquee event of the season — Silverstone.

Silverstone kicks off a busy July with both Circuit Paul Ricard and Hungaroring still to come. Chadwick’s primary competitors know they need to find a way to stop her momentum this weekend, otherwise, she could be well on her way to a third W Series title.

The Circuit – Silverstone:

The British Grand Prix 3.66-mile circuit was first used in 1950 and has become an iconic staple of the Formula 1 calendar. With 18 turns, including many high-speed corners, Silverstone puts forth a massive challenge to the drivers. This will be only the second running of a W Series event at the circuit, having debuted in 2021 following the cancelation of the 2020 season due to COVID.

Current Standings:

Drivers’ Championship

A perfect start to her Championship defending season has Jamie Chadwick miles ahead of the competition. Heading into Silverstone a trio of Brits leads the field with young Abbi Pulling Chadwick’s closest rival. While Chadwick has a sizeable lead, 2nd through 8th place are only separated by 20 points.

  1. Jamie Chadwick – 75 points
  2. Abbi Pulling – 38 points
  3. Alice Powell – 33 points
  4. Beiske Visser – 31 points
  5. Nerea Marti – 27 points

Race Predictions:

Last season Chadwick and Powell combined for seven race victories from eight rounds. They both stood on the podium last year at Silverstone and know the track very well. While Chadwick is the easy bet, Powell is due for some luck. Likewise, Emma Kimilainen’s results haven’t matched her level so far this year. She and Abbi Pulling should be battling out for the podium as well.

  1. Alice Powell
  2. Jamie Chadwick
  3. Emma Kimilainen
