MP Motorsport experienced a difficult weekend at Silverstone, struggling for pace with both drivers. However, there were some positives to take away.
MP Motorsport Focuses on Damage Limitation at Silverstone
MP Motorsport arrived at Silverstone second in the teams’ championship, led by strong results in the previous European round. But after a challenging few days at Silverstone, they have slipped to fourth, now 19 points off the lead. Richard Verschoor and Oliver Goethe faced several difficulties, as evidenced by the points they collected. However, with a long season still ahead, the team has plenty of opportunities to close the gap and fight their way back to the top of the standings.

Richard Verschoor’s Weekend of Frustration
Fresh from his victory in Austria, which also put him top of the drivers’ standings, Richard Verschoor arrived at Silverstone full of confidence and determined to extend his lead. Unfortunately, difficulties began as early as Friday.
Qualifying proved disappointing. Verschoor could manage no better than seventh, missing out on pole by just under six hundredths of a second to Victor Martins. On social media, the Dutchman admitted he had struggled to extract the car’s full potential on his second set of tyres.
The races brought little improvement. Although Verschoor scored points in both, he collected only eight in total, far fewer than he had hoped for.
Jak Crawford is now his closest rival in the championship, but with the gaps still narrow, the title fight remains wide open.

Oliver Goethe: A Step Away from the Points
Oliver Goethe also faced a tough weekend. However, his recovery drives in both races showed encouraging pace, even if a poor qualifying put him at a disadvantage.
Goethe had qualified in 18th, which meant he had to start at the bottom of the grid in both races. The Red Bull junior driver was forced to battle through the field.
He climbed up to 11th place in each race. In the feature race, however, his progress was hindered by a collision with Gabriele Minì shortly after exiting the pits. While the incident forced the Italian to retire, Goethe was able to continue and reach the chequered flag.
Although he narrowly missed out on scoring points, his performances were promising and could give him a much-needed confidence boost heading to Spa.
