Cupra Kiro’s Dan Ticktum won the Jakarta E-Prix, marking his first-ever race victory in Formula E, following his maiden podium in Tokyo.
A Chaotic Race in Jakarta Sees Ticktum Take the Win
Dan Ticktum secured his first-ever Formula E win at the Jakarta International e-Prix Circuit. He qualified well, starting in fifth place, improving his chances of winning. The Briton consistently remained within the top 10 throughout the race, effectively using his attack mode.
However, during his second attack mode, he truly came into his own, with De Vries leading and Ticktum just behind.

After the Dutchman received a penalty, it became much easier for the Cupra Kiro driver to defend and maintain his lead.
From lap 32 onwards, Ticktum and Edoardo Mortara engaged in a close battle for victory. A full-course yellow due to multiple incidents gave the Brit valuable time to strategise. Once the track returned to green, he kept Mortara at bay and crossed the finish line 0.3 seconds ahead of the Mahindra driver.
Ticktum’s triumph in Jakarta marked Cupra Kiro’s first victory since Season 1. The American team had struggled significantly in recent years, so they celebrated this remarkable achievement. After completing 60 race starts across his four years in Formula E, Ticktum‘s first win in Jakarta will be an exciting one.

Maserati MSG Racing and DS Penske Both Fail to Score Points in Jakarta
Despite being favourites for the race, Maserati MSG Racing and DS Penske failed to score any points during Formula E’s time in Jakarta.
Jean-Éric Vergne had to pit on lap 1 after missing his braking point and crashing into Mitch Evans, which left him with a broken front wing. Although the Frenchman rejoined the race, he remained near the back and eventually finished in 15th place.
Maximilian Günther retired on lap 7 after crashing into the wall while battling Oliver Rowland. He had no grip on the dusty track, and Rowland received a five-second time penalty for the collision.
As a result, DS Penske could not continue the strong momentum they had built from their 1-2 finish in Shanghai.
Elsewhere, on lap 30, Jake Hughes came to a stop and triggered a full-course yellow, highlighting Maserati MSG Racing’s issues. Shortly after, on lap 32, Stoffel Vandoorne crashed into the barrier at turn 15 and retired from the race.
Vandoorne suffered a technical failure and could not brake for the corner, leaving him powerless to avoid the crash.
Both teams looked promising after Günther topped FP1 and Hughes was fastest in FP2. However, they failed to convert that strong practice pace into qualifying results, with none of their drivers starting near the front.
Vergne started in 8th, Günther in 12th, Vandoorne in 15th and Hughes in 18th – highlighting their lack of pace.

Nyck De Vries and Jake Dennis Lose Out
De Vries and Jake Dennis showed strong pace in qualifying, with the Brit taking pole and the Dutchman starting third. Both got off to great starts, with de Vries easily overtaking Taylor Barnard, who had started second.
Dennis maintained the race lead until mid-race, when de Vries began to challenge him. On lap 23, on the long start/finish straight, de Vries overtook Dennis for the lead, but things quickly went awry.
The Brit attempted to reclaim the lead from the Dutchman, but crashed into him and lost his front wing. Subsequently, de Vries received a 10-second time penalty for the collision, putting him out of contention for the win.
Dennis tried to make up ground after a new front wing was fitted, but ultimately finished the race in 17th. Additionally, de Vries stopped on track due to a technical issue on lap 32, resulting in a DNF.
