Envision Racing caps off their Season 9 driving pairing with Formula E veteran and Season 2 Champion Sébastien Buemi.
When Robin Frijns left to join the returning ABT for Season 9, it left Envision looking for the perfect partner for Nick Cassidy. In comes long-term Formula E driver Sébastien Buemi. Their partnership gives Envision an experienced duo as they look to get on top of the new Gen3 generation car. Can Buemi rediscover his past form after two difficult seasons with Nissan?
Speaking on his move to join Envision, Buemi said,
“The new Gen3 era is hugely important for the sport and presents a new challenge, with a faster, lighter and more powerful car. My objective is to fight at the front, so I’m looking forward to start testing and preparing myself ahead of the first race in Mexico City.”
Buemi will have big shoes to fill after Robin Frijns lead Envision to a 5th place finish in the Teams’ Championship. Last season Nick Cassidy finished 11th in the Drivers’ Championship including a win in New York City, while Buemi was 15th managing just six finishes in the points. Both Envision and Buemi will be hoping that the new era of technology can reset the grid.

With Buemi’s announcement that makes 16 drives confirmed for next season. Seven teams have completed their lineups while three have still to announce either their drivers for Season 9. How much longer until Dragon make the debut of their brand new team and unveils Formula E champion Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Éric Vergne? Where will Edoardo Mortara land and will Nyck de Vries be in Formula 1 or Formula E next season?
