With the 2022 F1 season less than two months away, teams have started to tease their new liveries. We will be taking a look at the launches individually. What better place to start than the Constructor’s Champions – Mercedes?
As the long offseason ticks by, the 2022 campaign begins to come into view. On Tuesday, Mercedes-AMG Petronas joined in the preseason excitement with the announcement that the new livery would debut on February 18th. The F1 W13 E Performance will mark the team’s first entry with the newly designed F1 cars. The launch will take place virtually from Silverstone. The expectation is that the new livery will feature more of the classic silver in place of the prominent black from last season.

In 2022, Mercedes will have its first team shakeup in five seasons. Valtteri Bottas exits to join the new look Alfa Romeo Racing team. In his place comes one of F1’s top young talents – George Russell. With three years of experience at Williams, Russell could become the face of Mercedes in the years to come. He stepped in for Mercedes back in 2019 at the Sakhir Grand Prix, finishing in 9th place. But for now, he’ll be learning from the seven-time Champion Lewis Hamilton. While yet to be confirmed, Hamilton is expected to return for his 10th season with Mercedes.
Stay tuned for more team announcements in this series. All 10 teams will reveal their new looks throughout February. F1 returns to the track on February 23rd to begin testing in Barcelona, Spain. The season starts this year with the Bahrain Grand Prix in Sakhir on March 20.
