Kyle Busch Clinches His 50th Truck Series Win In Vegas

Ahead of the Pennzoil 400 on Sunday, Kyle Busch hit the track Friday night for the Stratosphere 200. Driving the #51 truck, Busch was chasing a career milestone tonight, to achieve 50 truck series wins. Kyle was able to successfully do that tonight, starting on pole position and staying in the front pack for the majority of the race. This became Kyle’s third Las Vegas win, with one Xfinity win coming from 2016 and one win from MENCS in 2009.

At the start of the race, Busch was joined by Stewart Friesen in the front row. Five cars got moved to the rear of the pack, including #88 Matt Crafton. His night got worse from there on. Johnny Sauter, Friesen and Busch were the three main names battling for the lead, with a buffer in the competition on lap 15 when Justin Marks spun out. When we went back to green, John Hunter Nemecheck had a right front tire blown out. He pitted, with no caution coming out.

Crafton, who started in the rear made it into the top 10 in the race, but started to feel concerned about how his car was feeling. During the stage 1 pittings, Crafton brought his car to the garage for repairs. He did not retire from the race, but did not return to the track. Noah Gragson won stage 1, with Kyle Busch out of the mix temporarily due to pitting on the caution.

Enfinger and Busch were on the front row for stage 2. During this stage there was amazing competitive action between Snider, Friesen and Busch, going three wide at some points. Friesen was able to hold onto the lead for the stage 2 win.

On lap 72, during the final stage, #24 Justin Haley spun out, hitting the outer barrier. This brought out a caution. We went green for another 30 laps, until Disdier spun out with 16 to go. We went green for the last time, with 12 laps to go. Many names battled for the lead, but Kyle Busch won the race.

This race puts Kyle Busch one more win away from tying the mostall-time NCWTS wins. The current holder of that title is Ron Hornaday Jr.. Kyle Busch has two more races this weekend, competing in the Xfinity race tomorrow and the Monster Energy race on Sunday. It’s a busy weekend in Vegas and we aren’t even halfway through.
