Felix Rosenqvist continues form to take pole for Berlin ePrix Race 2

After winning the seventh round of the 2016-2017 Formula E Season at the Tempelhof airport circuit, Felix Rosenqvist continued his current form in the second qualifying session of the weekend to take pole position for Mahindra Racing, marking the second pole position of his short Formula E career.

Felix Rosenqvist continues form to take pole for Berlin ePrix Race 2

Rosenqvist claimed pole by 0.098 seconds from Sebastien Buemi who will start alongside the Swede on the front row of the grid for the eighth race of the season. In the race, Buemi will be looking to extend his championship lead after having it slashed by Lucas Di Grassi yesterday, with his rival finishing in second place while he, himself, was disqualified from the final result after post-race checks revealed that the tyre pressures on both of his Renault e.dams cars were too low.

The second qualifying session proved to be a good running for the DS Virgin Racing pair of Jose Maria Lopez and Sam Bird, with both making it through to Super Pole 2. Lopez qualified in third place while Bird qualified in fourth place – the same positions in which the Mahindra Racing pair of Rosenqvist and Nick Heidfeld started from in yesterday’s race, which saw the two drivers secure a double podium finish.

Jean Eric Vergne rounded out the Super Pole 2 session in fifth place for Techeetah, 0.895 seconds of Rosenqvist’s pole lap after struggling with a poor handling car out on track.

The eighth race of the 2016-2017 Formula E Season is shaping up to be an exciting battle for the win. Can Felix Rosenqvist secure his second Formula E win in only his rookie season in Berlin or can Sebastien Buemi challenge to re-extend his championship lead for Renault e.dams. Regardless of what happens, it should be an exciting race in Berlin.
