TGL Set For Major Expansion As Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy Reveals Big Plan

Plans are already underway to expand the TGL after the huge success of the inaugural season of the tech-infused golf league.

Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and their TMRW Sports co-founder Mike McCarley have revealed that TGL is looking to add a new team in 2026 and is also exploring the possibility of creating a women’s division.

The league is also reportedly considering the potential of adding a venue on the West Coast to help players with travel.

McCarley and other TGL executives discussed the possibility of expanding the league at the CAA World Congress of Sports this week.

McCarley revealed that he was delighted with the number of potential bidders who have shown strong interest in the TGL project. He also noted that only investors based in the United States will be considered.

Plans Ongoing To Create New Team

Legendary golfer Tiger Woods and recently crowned Masters champion Rory McIlroy founded the TGL. Its inaugural season took place earlier this year, where Justin Thomas’s team, Atlanta Drive, emerged victorious and bagged $9 million. The first season was a big success and even attracted celebrities like DJ Khaled and Celine Dion.

The inaugural season of the tech-powered, Palm Beach-based, six-team league featured many of the top stars on the PGA Tour. However, the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth opted not to participate in the 2025 season.

With strong indications that a new “Dallas” team will be created for 2026, there is a strong possibility that Dallas-based players like world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and three-time major champion Jordan Spieth could join the likes of Woods and McIlroy in TGL’s second season.

TGL Exploding Possibility of Women’s Division

The expansion plans for TGL don’t end with the creation of a new team. There are also ongoing discussions to establish a women’s division, which could attract some of the world’s best LPGA players.

This could mean fans may get to see the likes of Nelly Korda and Charley Hull involved in TGL as early as next year.

Los Angeles Golf Club founder and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, believes that the expansion of TGL to the women’s game is a top priority.

“I’ve been bugging these guys about the LPGA deal for a minute,” Ohanian said. “They have been very interested. It’s just these things take time, and I’m not allowed to make any news.”

There’s no secret we’re working on that,”

McCarley said. “Alexis has been a great thought leader for us on that, and I think most of our team owners are right behind them in that area, too.”
