Matthew Wolff has withdrawn from LIV Golf Virginia after sustaining an injury in the first round today. The 25-year-old American golfer, who plays for the RangeGoats GC team, was unable to continue after experiencing discomfort early in his round.
Who Is Taking Matthew Wolff’s Place on the RangeGoats GC Team?
RangeGoats GC has immediately responded to Wolff’s injury by replacing him with reserve player Ollie Schniederjans. Schniederjans will take Wolff’s place for the remainder of the tournament. However, officials will count Schniederjans’ scores toward the team competition but exclude them from the individual leaderboard. This is consistent with LIV Golf’s competition rules regarding mid-round replacements.

Matthew Wolff’s unexpected withdrawal is an unfortunate blow for RangeGoats GC. Wolff, known for his unorthodox swing and explosive power, has been a key player for the team this season. But as Schniederjans steps in, the team remains optimistic about their chances at LIV Golf Virginia, hosted at the scenic Greenbrier course. The tournament continues through the weekend with many of LIV’s top stars in action.
Why Schnierderjans Matters As Wolff’s Replacement
Schniederjans will be hoping to make the most of this opportunity to announce himself on the big stage. After spending much of the season preparing in the background as a reserve, he now gets another chance to compete in front of a global audience.

The 31-year-old has built a solid reputation as both a talented individual player and a dependable team contributor. The Georgian is a former top-ranked amateur who starred at Georgia Tech before turning professional. Schniederjans has shown flashes of brilliance over the years and has recorded impressive wins on both the Korn Ferry Tour and the Asian Tour.
This will be Schniederjans’ second call-up in just a few months after he served as a reserve player for the 2025 LIV Golf season. He stepped in for Phil Mickelson at the season-opening event in Riyadh earlier this season and performed impressively, showing why he is one of LIV Golf’s most trusted reserves.
Schniederjans also added another feather to his cap when he secured the title at the International Series India, finishing four shots clear of LIV star Bryson DeChambeau in February. That victory further cemented his standing and proved he can compete with some of the best players in the world.
