2025 was a pretty interesting year for rookies on the PGA Tour. The ones who got attention from the press and fans were well-received. They had great energy, a positive attitude, and some were still star-struck while playing with some big names in the sport. Aldrich Potgieter also snagged his first PGA victory at the Rocket Classic. With 2025 coming to a close, the next group of rookies is getting ready to cross over into the PGA Tour. This group includes Davis Chatfield.
Davis Chatfield
There are a few tours that pros start in before making the jump to the PGA Tour. Some go through the PGA Tour U program. A way for college-age athletes to earn points for a Tour Card with the hopes of going pro after school. Alternatively, for others like Aldrich Potgieter, the Korn Ferry Tour is a good start. This is the path that Davis Chatfield went, starting in 2023. For the past two years, Chatfield has competed in 73 events, making the cut in 56 of them.
During his time on the Korn Ferry, he made the top ten a total of nine times, six in 2025 alone. Additionally, he has shown some skill very recently, too. During the Compliance Solutions Championship in Owasso, Oklahoma, Chatfield managed to score 59 for a round. Chatfield did this on the back nine with a solid string of birdies and pars. During a par five hole, he scored an albatross with two strokes, and was so proud of it, he posed for a picture of it. The official Korn Ferry Twitter account would post said picture.
Earning A Tour Card
Although the Korn Ferry Championship, the tour’s finale, has not even begun, Chatfield is already set to be on the PGA Tour for 2026. He has been in the top 25 eleven times in 2025 alone. Chatfield already has standing in the OWGR. His current best ranking is 176th, and he currently sits at 194th. The only thing stopping him is the number of tournaments he has been in. The official Korn Ferry Tour Twitter made the announcement of Chatfield’s career advancement on October 7th.
“He’s shipping up to the PGA TOUR. With 11 top-25 finishes this season, Massachusetts native Davis Chatfield is #TOURBOUND for 2026!”
Anyone who has been following Chatfield throughout his time on the Korn Ferry can now look forward to seeing him playing among some of the biggest names in the sport.
Davis Chatfield Tour Bound
Seeing someone fresh on the scene for the big leagues is always fun to see. Throughout 2025, PGA Tour fans got to see a few rookies come onto the scene with amazing energy. Some even earned their Tour Cards in PGA events. When Potgieter came on, he was already breaking records with how far he could hit, and for Chatfield, he’s making splashes before he gets off the Korn Ferry. If his skill on the Korn Ferry is anything to go by for 2026, he will be one of the rookies to keep an eye on.
