LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau has featured alongside actor Christopher McDonald in the “Happy Gilmore 2” Subway ad. Netflix is launching a big promotional push for its upcoming movie Happy Gilmore 2, with the new Subway ad as a key part of the campaign.
DeChambeau Stars Alongside Legendary Shooter McGavin in Subway Ad
DeChambeau and McDonald appear in the new Subway commercial to great effect. The commercial is part of a broader partnership between Subway, Netflix, and advertising agency Dentsu. Together, they’re bringing back some of the best moments from the original movie to build excitement for the sequel. It’s a perfect match for fans of both golf and Happy Gilmore.
The creators added a fun twist to the commercial that long-time fans of Happy Gilmore will love. In a playful nod to the original film, Shooter McGavin isn’t chasing a gold jacket this time—he’s after something new: Subway’s collector cups featuring his own face. In a quick moment, he snatches one straight out of Bryson DeChambeau’s hand before running off.
One of the highlights of the campaign is the new Happy Gilmore Meal being offered at Subway. Customers can now upgrade any combo to include one of four collectible cups designed by artist Mickey Duzyj for just $1 extra. Each cup features a character from the movie (Happy, Shooter, Hal L., or Oscar) and comes in themed, collectible packaging.
But the campaign doesn’t stop at the restaurant counter. Each meal comes with a QR code that takes customers to Subway’s “Happy Place,” an online hub filled with games, bonus content, and sweepstakes offering over $1 million in prizes. These range from weekly $3,000 “big checks” and custom golf carts to gear, gift cards, and even a golf resort trip for two.
DeChambeau Displays Acting Flair
Bryson DeChambeau isn’t known for his acting skills, but the LIV Golf star handled the role in the commercial with flair and has earned praise from fans. Happy Gilmore 2 is one of Netflix’s most anticipated comedy sequels this year. Bringing back classic characters while adding new faces like DeChambeau is a clever way to connect the old and the new. And by launching this campaign through a familiar brand like Subway, the film gets an extra boost of visibility in a fun and accessible way.

This isn’t the first time Subway has been part of the Happy Gilmore story. The original 1996 film famously included a product placement scene where Adam Sandler’s character bragged about eating Subway before hitting the course. Now, nearly 30 years later, Subway is back—this time helping bring the long-awaited sequel to life.
