Football Friday Tailgate Treats: Who Needs A Drink?

Happy Football Friday All Y’all! Who needs a drink? We have covered some tasty treats now we need something to wet our whistle. This week we have big batch recipes for all sorts of beverages to help get the party started.  Did you save last weeks assortment of dips? Which one was your favorite?  The hot corn dip was a winner here. Hope your team is still making you smile. If they are like riding a roller coaster you just might need a drink. Enjoy this weeks selection of adult beverages to help get you through the football season.

Football Friday Tailgate Treats: Who Needs A Drink?

Note: all of these big batch beverages can be made WITHOUT alcohol to make them friendly for everyone at the party. Just be sure to mark the spiked batch.

Big Batch Cajun Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups Light Rum
  • 2 Cups Citrus Vodka
  • 12 Oz Can Frozen Lemonade Concentrate, thawed
  • 1 Tsp Hot Sauce of Choice
  • 1 Liter Club Soda, chilled
  • Crushed Ice
  • Lemon Slices and Mint Leaves, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Stir together the rum, hot sauce, vodka, and lemonade in a large pitcher.
  2. Chill in the refrigerator until erady to use.
  3. Add the club soda just before serving.
  4. Pour the mixture into 8 highball glasses filled with crushed ice.
  5. Garnish with lemon slices and mint and enjoy!

Bourbon Apple Cider Cocktail (Hot Or Cold)

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups apple cider
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup lemon juice, approximately 1 ½ – 2 lemons
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 ounces bourbon whiskey
  • ¼ cup honey

Instructions:

  1. Combine apple cider, orange juice, lemon juice, nutmeg and one of the cinnamon sticks in a medium size pot on the stovetop.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium high heat until it just begins to boil, then lower the heat to medium low and allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the bourbon and the honey.
  4. Serve the drink warm in a mug garnished with a cinnamon stick or cool the mixture completely and serve in a glass over ice.

Pickle Bloody Mary

Ingredients: 

  • 32 oz tomato juice, V8 low sodium spicy blend
  • 1.5 cups vodka, Titos
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp spicy horseradish
  • 3/4 cup dill pickle juice
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 tsp cracked pepper
  • 1/2 tsp celery salt
  • pinch red pepper flakes

Garnish:

  • 1 lime
  • 3 tbsp salt / lemon pepper
  • 4 meat sticks, Chomps
  • 8 cubes pepper jack cheese
  • 4 strips cooked bacon
  • 4 sticks celery
  • 4 dill pickle spears
  • 4 mini bell peppers

Instructions: 

  1. In a large pitcher, add tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, cracked pepper, hot sauce, lime juice and pickle juice. Whisk together.
  2. If time allows, refrigerate mixture for a few hours to marinate all of the flavors.
  3. When it’s time to serve, add vodka to the pitcher and stir.
  4. Slice lime in half and run it along the top edge of each glass and then dip glasses into salted/lemon pepper mixture for a garnished rim.
  5. Add ice to each glass. Pour Pickle Bloody Mary cocktail in and garnish with freshly baked bacon, celery, cheese sticks, dill pickle spears, fresh bell peppers, and any other toppings you wish.

Breakfast Sangria

This refreshing pregame batch can be made the night before with prosecco and sparkling water, and the longer it sits, the more flavorful it gets!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pink Grapefruit
  • 1 Navel Orange
  • 1 Lime
  • 1 Cup Cointreau
  • 750 ML Bottle Prosecco
  • 12-24 Oz Plain or Grapefruit Sparkling Water

Instructions:

  1. Slice the citrus fruit into half moons.
  2. Add the fruit to a large pitcher with the Cointreau and the Prosecco.
  3. Squeeze in the juice of one lime.
  4. Cover the pitcher tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  5. When ready to serve, top off the pitcher with sparkling water and serve with lime or orange wedges.

Manhattan Beer Slushie

Ingredients: 

Instructions: 

  1. Pour the beers into an 8-by-8-inch baking dish.
  2. Freeze until slushy, whisking every 30 minutes, for about 4 hours.
  3. Meanwhile, put the cherries in a small bowl and pour the orange liqueur over. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours.
  4. For each cocktail, spoon about 1 cup beer slush into a rocks glass.
  5. Pour 1 3/4 ounces sweet vermouth, 1 1/2 ounces bourbon and 3 dashes bitters into a cocktail shaker.
  6. Fill with ice, shake and strain over the slush in the glass.
  7. Garnish with 2 liqueur-soaked cherries.
  8. Serve immediately.
