After a recruiting weekend with a handful of prospective recruits in house, Ohio State earned the commitment of elite back, Bo Jackson, Jr.

After a successful weekend visit filled with a handful of potential recruits, Bo Jackson, Jr. committed to Ohio State. Jackson, no relation of legendary two-sport superstar Bo Jackson, represents the 13th commitment for the Buckeyes’ 2025 class. Ohio State still holds the second-best class according to 247Sports with eight fewer commitments than Notre Dame. When ranking by average rating per recruit, the Buckeyes now top the nation.

2025 RB Bo Jackson, Jr. Commits to Ohio State

Ohio State is no stranger to top-tier players. Marvin Harrison, Jr. just left for the NFL. Will Smith, Jr. was a four-star recruit on the defensive line in Ohio State’s 2023 class.

The Buckeyes fended off the likes of Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn for the running back’s services. Jackson is a four-star recruit out of Cleveland, Ohio, and is considered the third-best running back recruit in the nation. In terms of Ohio recruits, Jackson is rated as the fifth-best.

Jackson has natural athletic abilities, that much is evident. He can succeed in any rushing scheme with his college-ready six-foot, 205-pound frame. His junior season at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School saw him rush for over 1,700 yards and score nearly 30 touchdowns.

He’s a physical runner who can run defenders over as often as he can making them miss in space. He is quoted as being excited about the Chip Kelly offense and how he utilizes his running backs in both the running game as well as receivers.

This marks the first commitment for new running backs coach, Carlos Locklyn. As of his commitment, Jackson is the only running back of the 2025 cycle headed to Ohio State. The Buckeyes have been linked to (and crystalballed) Jordan Davison and Isaiah West. It’s going to be a marathon for Ryan Day to keep Jackson in-house as the aforementioned SEC powers will ramp up their recruitment.

As of now, with the expectation of TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins heading to the NFL after the 2024 season, Jackson will be the third scholarship running back on the roster. 247Sports tabs the back as the type of player who can carve out a role early on in his career.
