Wake Forest Spring Camp

Wake Forest Shores Up Its Depth Via the Transfer Portal

Wake Forest continues to shore up its 2026 football roster via a high level of activity in the transfer portal. The Demon Deacons got plenty of help on the offensive side of the ball in the last 24 hours and a little more depth on defense.

Tight End

Landon Morris’s well-used travel log now takes a stop in Winston-Salem. Morris is coming to Wake Forest after a year at Cal. The 6’-5”, 240-pound tight end had seven catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games in 2025 for the Golden Bears. Morris knows his way through the portal system. He signed his first letter of intent for Syracuse in 2020, but never played for the Orange in the 2021 season. By December of 2021, he was committing to Utah but never saw any official playing time in Salt Lake City. He transferred to Temple for the 2023 season, but had to sit out under old NCAA transfer rules because it was his second transfer. He was still with Temple in 2024 when, after four years in college, he made his football debut for the Owls. He then transferred to Cal for the 2025 season.

Wake will be his fifth official school. Ironically, he took an unofficial visit to Wake back in 2019, before eventually signing with Syracuse for the 2021 season.

Wide Receiver

Wondame Davis, Jr., is coming to Wake Forest from UTEP. He is 6’-1”, 180 pounds. He redshirted for the Miners in 2024. In 2025, Davis had 26 catches for 61q0 yards and six touchdowns. Originally from Ennis, Texas, Davis has three years of eligibility left.

Running Back

Sawyer Seidl had a good couple of years at North Dakota in the FCS, even at only 5’-10”, 175 pounds. He redshirted in 2023, appearing in just one game for the season. In 2024, he appeared in every game during the season. He was a reserve running back, but also the starting kick returner. Seidl was sixth in the country (FCS) in yards per return (28.5). He was ninth in the FCS in total yards per game at just under 100.

In 2025, he rushed for 897 yards on 188 carries. He also had 13 touchdowns. As a kick returner, he had fewer opportunities (only 11 returns compared to 17 in 2024). But he still averaged 27.8 yards per return for a total of 306 yards. Seidl has two years of eligibility left.

Safety

Vincent Firenze transfers to Wake Forest from Dayton. Even though he redshirted in 2023, he was named the team’s Scout Team Player of the year.

In 2024, he played in all 11 games with one start. He had 19 tackles and two fumble recoveries. In 2025, Firenze had 50 solo tackles (85 total) and an interception. He was named first team All-PFL (Pioneer Football League with Division I FCS status.

The PFL does not offer athletic scholarships, so Firenze is entering into new waters. He has two years of eligibility left. It is also worth noting that Firenze was All-Conference Academic Honor Roll all three years at Dayton, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering.

Very unofficially, Wake Forest is now up to 14 new commits in the one week they have officially been working the transfer portal.
