Kalen DeBoer Continuing Crimson Tide Recruiting Success with Latest Commit

The Alabama Crimson Tide are known for their strong track record on the recruiting trail. Kalen DeBoer picked up right where Nick Saban left off in that regard.

The team has seen a recent string of commitments for the 2026 class. It is but another feather in the cap of Kalen DeBoer as he prepares for his sophomore campaign as head coach of the Tide.

The Classes

We have already seen one strong DeBoer recruiting class. Headlined by phenom wide receiver Ryan Williams, the 2024 class ranked second in the sport per 247Sports. The newest recruiting class continues that trend of success. The head coach has brought in three more five-star athletes, and the 2025 class currently ranks fourth in the nation.

The 2026 class is starting to take shape, as well. A recent run of three-star commits sees that class currently ranked 34th in the sport with over a year remaining for improvement. Kalen DeBoer has shown, to this point, that he is capable of that improvement.

The 2026 Recruits

The class received its first commitment in December. Zyan Gibson, a four-star athlete out of Gadsden City, Alabama, committed to play for Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide. Gibson, listed at 6-0 and 174 pounds, served as Gadsden City High School’s primary receiver and defensive back. Posting a 10.85 100 in his sophomore year, his speed opposite Williams would make a deadly tandem in the passing game.

DeBoer has continued his run of strong defensive recruiting. After nine of 21 recruits in the 2025 class being on that side of the ball, two more defenders have committed for the 2026 class.

Defensive lineman Chris Booker and edge rusher Jamarion Matthews will both be suiting up for Kalen DeBoer in 2026. Both from Georgia, the three-star recruits each rank inside the top 30 in the country for their positions.

Matthews could prove to be the more exciting of the two. In his junior season, Matthews tallied 17 sacks in 10 games. Getting to the quarterback proved to be an issue in 2024, as the team combined for only 25 sacks in 13 games. So far, Kalen DeBoer looks to be making an effort to improve that statistic in the coming seasons.

The 2026 class is still over a year away. But, even with the lengthy horizon, it is still something fans can get excited about.

Despite 2024’s struggles, the future is still bright. Kalen DeBoer is making sure the track record of strong recruiting does not die with Nick Saban.
