Wake Forest Signing Day

Wake Forest Found Its Way Into Signing Day

The first Wednesday in February used to be the biggest day of the college football off-season. National Signing Day has been overtaken by the early signing period and the transfer portal. Still, Wake Forest found its way into the signing day news with three new players.

New head coach Jake Dickert completed the 2025 class with a new running back, an offensive lineman, and a punter. That brings the high school recruiting class, put together by former coach Dave Clawson, and by Dickert to 23 players. Nine of them are already in school in the current semester at Wake and will be participating in Spring camp. The remaining 14 will be on campus for Summer workouts.

The Demon Deacons also have 22 players via the portal in a transfer class completely put together by Dickert.

Wednesday, Dickert got the final three pieces of the class. Jamar Searcy is a running back from Pittsburg, CA. Standing at 5-8, 180 pounds, he is a three-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. In his senior season, he rushed for 1,470 yards and 18 touchdowns in leading Pittsburg High to the state 1-AA championship game. He also played safety at Pittsburg and had 49 tackles. He was also offered by SMU and Cal.

Wake Forest signed offensive tackle Aidan Martin out of Northfield High School in Denver, Colorado. The Nighthawks won the Denver Metro League championship. Martin is 6-6, 265 pounds and was a three-star prospect per 247Sports Composite. Oregon State, Washington State, and Wyoming were his other offers.

And then Wake got itself a new punter from Down Under. Rohan McNeil will be making his way to Winston-Salem from Perth, Australia. He had a bunch of stats playing two years for the Claremont Football Club, but since we do not approach anything near Australian Rules experts, we are not going to begin to examine the quality of the numbers. He will be a 20-year-old freshman when the season starts.

All three of Wednesday’s signees will arrive on campus in the Summer.

With the portal and the high school signees, Dickert has 45 incoming players. The Demon Deacons lost 16 players through the transfer portal.
