2022 Week Two Heisman Rankings

2022 Week Eight Heisman Rankings

It was only the second week in the college football season, but the madness has impacted the Heisman race. Anthony Richardson went from zero votes, to number three in the rankings, back to zero votes in an upset loss to Kentucky. But, who could take advantage and take his place in the top five this week? We’ll dive into that and more as we break down the contenders in our 2022 Week Two Heisman rankings.

Bryce Young and the Crimson Tide avoided Heisman and team disaster after they narrowly avoided the upset at the hands of Texas. Will the close call see him lose his grip on the top spot? Did C.J. Stroud and Stetson Bennett do enough against inferior opponents to keep their spots? With that, let’s take a look as we unveil our 2022 Week Twp Heisman rankings.

Top Five Candidates

1. Bryce Young

QB | Alabama                                                                                                                                                                    Next Game: 9/17 vs ULM

It was not the greatest game for Young and Tide offense. However, they found a way to make plays when it mattered the most. Most notably, stepping out of a sack and making it into a long run while trailing in the final moments of the game. Alabama will need to get much better production from his supporting cast to have the same memorable season of a year ago.

2. CJ Stroud

Stroud did exactly what he was supposed to do against a sub-standard opponent on Saturday. He dominated to the tune of 351 yards passing with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He’ll have another opportunity to essentially do what he wants on Saturday as the Buckeyes host Toledo. But, a tougher test in Wisconsin looms ahead.

Williams breaks back into the top five with an impressive performance in the Trojans 41-28 victory over Stanford. The Oklahoma transfer connected with Jordan Addison on a pair of touchdown strikes. Now, he returns home as USC hosts Fresno State in a game that he should continue to put up huge numbers in once again.

 4. Will Anderson

DL | Alabama                                                                                                                                                                           Next Game: 9/17 vs ULM

It was mostly a down game for the best defensive player in the country against Texas. He had multiple offsides penalties and committed a crucial late hit penalty that allowed a Texas drive to continue. However, as most great players do, he made a tremendous play late in the game in getting his first sack of the season to force a long Texas field goal.

5. Bijan Robinson

RB | Texas                                                                                                                                                                        Next Game: 9/17 vs UTSA

As expected, it was tough sledding on the ground for Robinson on Saturday against the top-ranked Alabama defense. However, he did have 130 yards from scrimmage and produced the only Longhorn touchdown in the game. Robinson should have an easier time against UTSA on Saturday. However, they only allowed 181 yards on the ground to Army.
