Week Three 2020 Heisman Rankings

2022 Week One Heisman Rankings

The fourth full week of the college football season has brought some major changes to the Heisman world. Oklahoma and LSU were both upset at home. Texas pulled out a miracle win. But, the biggest statement might have been from the SEC providing two bigtime performances. In this crazy 2020 season who could have predicted that Spencer Rattler, Chuba Hubbard, and Travis Etienne would not gain a single vote in this week’s poll.  Let’s look at all of the changes in our week three 2020 Heisman rankings.

The SEC came back in a big way last week. K.J. Costello and Kyle Trask opened the season with incredible performances. But, would it be enough to get them into the top five? Comparatively, D’Eriq King continued his fast start as Miami dismantled Florida State. There’s a big change in this week’s poll. Now, let’s unveil our week one 2020 Heisman rankings.

Top Five Candidates

1. Trevor Lawrence

QB | Clemson                                                                                                                                                     Next Game: 10/3 vs Virginia

Lawrence took a stroll in his home park two weeks ago against The Citadel. In a game where he barely broke a sweat, he accounted for five first-half touchdowns in a 49-0 victory. He was nearly perfect with only one incompletion in his half of play and also ran for a couple of scores. Lawrence has a stranglehold on his lead despite the off week. The Tigers host Virginia in the home conference opener on Saturday.

2. D’Eriq King

QB | Miami                                                                                                                                                 Next Game: 10/10 at Clemson

King and the Hurricanes offense are clicking on all cylinders. He led Miami on touchdown drives on six of his seven possessions as they rolled over Florida State on Saturday. The senior had over 300 yards of total offense in just over two and a half quarters of play. The Hurricanes are off this before a monumental early season game at Clemson on October 10th.

3. Kyle Trask

QB | Florida                                                                                                                                               Next Game: 10/3 vs South Carolina

The Gators offense was on fire in the first game of the season on Saturday. That was largely due to Trask and his incredible play as they put up 51 points on Ole Miss. Trask threw for over 400 yards and six touchdowns against the Rebels. Florida has been a trendy pick to make it to the SEC championship this season behind Trask. But, after beginning the year as a darkhorse, Trask has put himself right in the mix.

4. K.J. Costello

We all knew at some point Mike Leach would have the Bulldog offense humming. However, not many thought it would happen this soon and not against the reigning champs. But, Costello flexed his muscles throwing for over 600 yards and five touchdowns. Costello should be firm in this position next week as the Bulldogs host Arkansas this weekend in Starkville.

Ehlinger, and Texas, snatched victory from the jaws of defeat on Saturday against Texas Tech. The Longhorns rallied from a 15-point deficit with just four minutes to play to tie the game and eventually pull out the win in overtime. Ehlinger tossed five more touchdown passes in the game for 10 in his first two games. The Longhorns return home to host TCU on Saturday.
