The WTA Finals is the final tournament of the season and is the most prestigious outside the four Grand Slams. Only the eight best players in the WTA race will earn a spot at the year-end championships. The event will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 1 to 8.
Last year, Coco Gauff won her first WTA Finals title and took home over $4 million in prize money. With less than three months until the tournament kicks off in Saudi Arabia’s capital, two women have already qualified for the season finale. They are Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek. With six spots up for grabs, four Americans are in contention to join them. Who are they?
Four Americans in the Running to Qualify for 2025 WTA Finals
1. Coco Gauff
Coco Gauff is ranked 3rd in the WTA race with 5184 points. She is next in line to qualify and is almost certain to make it in the final eight thanks to her Grand Slam success at the French Open. Gauff is only a few points away from the cut-off mark, which will reduce as the season enters the final two months.
2. Amanda Anisimova
With runner-up finishes at Wimbledon and the US Open, Amanda Anisimova is 4th in the race and is bidding to qualify for the WTA Finals for the first time. Anisimova’s Top 10 breakthrough comes on the back of a scintillating season in which she won her maiden WTA 1000 title back in February at the Qatar Open. She has 4908 points.
3. Madison Keys
Madison Keys’ sole appearance at the year-end championships dates back to 2016. Nine years on, and with a Grand Slam title under her belt, Keys is another player almost assured of a spot thanks to her status as a Major champion. She has a 924-point lead over ninth-placed Jasmine Paolini.
4. Jessica Pegula
Jessica Pegula is the last American holding a spot among the eight elite. Pegula has qualified for the WTA Finals in each of the last three seasons. She was the runner-up in the 2023 edition in Cancun, Mexico. The 31-year-old has 4209 points and needs two strong showings at the WTA 1000 tournaments in China to secure her spot.
