Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Complains About Schedule, gets Harsh Response from Dan Evans

The schedule at tournaments is a constant matter of discussion. Many players have spoken about how they feel that this issue can be improved for the players. Another fresh complaint has come from the Canadian Open.

Last week’s Washington Open finalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina posted on social media platforms suggesting that it is getting extremely hectic for him and his team. However, British player Dan Evans had different ideas, as he posted a counter message on his story.

Davidovich Fokina words a strong message

A small excerpt from Davidovich Fokina’s message read, “Today I want to share my disappointment and frustration with the ATP. Tomorrow every match starts at 12:30, except ours, which has been scheduled at 11:00. We are staying one hour away from the club, which means we have to wake up extremely early to arrive in good condition.”

He further also mentioned the fact that his team asked for a change. However, he was met with a response that TV rights and tickets have already been sold. He further concluded his message with, “The ATP always promises they’ll fix things, but nothing ever changes. This isn’t the first time it happens, and when you are inside, you realize it’s not great as it looks from the outside.”

Evans’ sharp response to Davidovich Fokina

Evans though did not buy Davidovich Fokina’s complaint, as he was very blunt in his response. Highlighting the Spaniard’s message in his Instagram story’s background, Evans put a caption in bold stating, “Wake up and play. The world wakes up an[d] works 9-5 even 8-6 pathetic.” He clearly suggested that one should not complain about the scheduling, as every person has his or her challenges in their work life and has to accordingly adjust. Also, needing to leave for the court by 10 AM does not seem like an overly early morning.

It will be interesting to see if there is any official statement issued by the ATP on this complaint from the Spaniard. Davidovich Fokina defeated Jakub Mensik in his third round battle. He will have to put his scheduling issues to bed for now at least and get back to focusing on his upcoming matches.
