Naomi Osaka National Bank Open Toronto

WTA Montreal Day 2 Predictions Including Naomi Osaka vs Ariana Arseneault

Day 2 at the WTA 1000 event in Montreal won’t feature the seeds just yet, but it will feature plenty of highly talented players and intriguing matches, including a former top 10 player in Maria Sakkari and even a multi-Slam winner in Naomi Osaka. It is sure to be a day full of exciting action, tight matches and high quality tennis.

WTA Montreal Day 2 Predictions

Maria Sakkari vs Carson Branstine

Head-to-head: first meeting

Sakkari is far from her best days, but she should still be clearly above Branstine. The Canadian will certainly be extremely motivated in her home tournament, doing everything in her power to get the best win of her career to date, but ultimately Sakkari should be a few levels above and pull through, even if she is unlikely to go far here.
Prediction: Sakkari in 2

Tatjana Maria vs Laura Siegemund

Head-to-head: Siegemund 1-0 Maria

Maria won a very important title on grass in London, but she isn’t quite as strong on other surfaces. On a hard court, it’s far to give Siegemund a bit of an edge in this matchup. She won a very tough three-setter when the pair faced in Warsaw in 2023 and a similar scenario could well pan out here again, with her pulling through a close match.
Prediction: Siegemund in 2

Kamilla Rakhimova vs Kayla Cross

Head-to-head: first meeting

Rakhimova has been having some decent runs lately, namely her victory over Paolini at Wimbledon, and she should have a very clear edge here against her Canadian opponent. Cross will surely be extra motivated here, but at this point in her respective careers Rakhimova is definitely the much stronger player and should advance.
Prediction: Rakhimova in 2

Ariana Arseneault vs Naomi Osaka

Head-to-head: first meeting

This North American hard court season is yet another opportunity for Osaka to get back to being a contender for big titles, and she couldn’t have asked for a better first match here than facing the #515 player in the world. Whether Osaka can actually contend for big titles remains to be seen, but she should definitely be able to win this match.
Prediction: Osaka in 2
