Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Western & Southern Open

ATP Los Cabos Day 3 Predictions Including Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs James Duckworth

All eight second-round matches are played on Day 3 of the ATP Los Cabos Open. This article features #2 seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and #4 seed Quentin Halys. Will all the favorites come through, or will there be upsets? As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for all the matches on the slate. Who do you think will advance?

ATP Los Cabos Day 3 Predictions

Adam Walton vs Nishesh Basavareddy

Head-to-Head: first meeting

20-year-old Nishesh Basavareddy played a solid match in the first round to dispatch Nicolas Mejia, 6-4 6-1. This was his first Tour-level win since January, and he must have felt a sigh of relief. His baseline consistency and dynamic movement should give him the edge over Adam Walton. These two have met before at the Challenger level, where Basavareddy won. I expect Walton to make this close, but my prediction is in favor of the American player.
Prediction: Basavareddy in 3

Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Luis Carlos Alvarez

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Aleksandar Kovacevic snapped his seven-match losing streak by defeating Hady Habib in three sets. Kovacevic started the match brilliantly but played an erratic second set to let his opponent level the match. He will look to avoid the dip in the next match against Luis Carlos Alvarez, who made a fantastic ATP Tour main draw debut in the first round. He demonstrated his potential by dispatching James McCabe in just 73 minutes. Kovacevic will be a much tougher opponent, but Alvarez, backed by the home crowd, will be motivated to put on a show.
Prediction: Kovacevic in 3

Quentin Halys vs Juan Pablo Ficovich

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Quentin Halys had a disappointing grass season by his standards, as he won just two matches in four tournaments. Halys has played some great tennis on hard courts this season and will be looking to replicate it for the rest of the season. The fourth seed should be favored to win his opening match against Juan Pablo Ficovich, who won his first Tour-level match since 2022 in the first round. The Frenchman has a big advantage on serve, and that could prove to be enough.
Prediction: Halys in 2

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs James Duckworth

Head-to-Head: Davidovich Fokina 1-0 Duckworth

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is having the best season of his career, and this week presents a great opportunity for him to win his maiden ATP Tour title. However, he has a tough opener against James Duckworth, who defeated Adrian Mannarino in straight sets and gave a great fight to Davidovich Fokina recently in Eastbourne. Duckworth can hold his own here if he plays like he did in the first round, but I expect the Spaniard to raise his level and win.
Prediction: Davidovich Fokina in 3
