Aleksandar Kovacevic National Bank Open-Montreal

ATP Los Cabos Day 1 Predictions Including Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Hady Habib

The 2025 ATP Los Cabos Open, formally known as the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo, marks the beginning of the North American hard-court swing. Andrey Rublev is the top seed alongside many other fantastic players. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance?

ATP Los Cabos Day 1 Predictions

Alibek Kachmazov vs Juan Pablo Ficovich

Head-to-Head: first meeting

World No. 182 Alibek Kachmazov had a good run in Chengdu last year but hasn’t won a Tour-level match this season. He will be looking to do that against Juan Pablo Ficovich, who is higher ranked but has never won a tour-level match on hard courts. Ficovich plays most of his tennis on clay and will find it hard to adapt quickly against a good striker like Kachmazov.
Prediction: Kachmazov in 3

Taro Daniel vs Alex Hernandez

Head-to-Head: Daniel 1-0 Hernandez

It has been a forgettable season for the former World No. 58 Taro Daniel as he has failed to win a single tour-level match and is currently ranked outside the Top 150. Daniel desperately needs some match wins. He is a good player on hard courts and can go on a run here if he can find his best tennis. He will face the local wild card, Alex Hernandez, who has just one tour-level win to his name. The Japanese player doesn’t have the form, but he should use his experience to win this one.
Prediction: Daniel in 3

Aleksandar Vukic vs Emilio Nava

Head-to-Head: first meeting

This should be a close encounter between Aleksandar Vukic and Emilio Nava. Vukic, rated No. 93, has a 5-16 record this year, which is his career worst to this point. Nava, on the other hand, has one Tour-level win this season but has won a lot of matches at the Challenger level and will like his chances in this one. Nava’s aggressive style may test Vukic’s consistency on the fast Los Cabos hard courts. If Vukic doesn’t serve at a high rate, he will most likely lose this one.
Predictions: Nava in 3

Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Hady Habib

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Aleksandar Kovacevic has reached the Los Cabos Open quarterfinals in both his appearances and will look to advance further this time. He is the highest seed playing on Day 1 and has played some good tennis on this surface this season. Hady Habib’s aggressive style could pose a threat, but he hasn’t been winning a lot of matches recently. I am leaning towards the American player.
Prediction: Kovacevic in 3
