It’s time for second-round action at the WTA Wimbledon Championships. The stunning upset so far at the tournament was Coco Gauff losing in the first round. With many high-profile matches scheduled, could more upsets be on offer? Here are more of my best bets. Tell me in the comments if you agree.
WTA Wimbledon Open
Raducanu – Vondrousova: Time 18:00
H2H: 1-2
Emma Raducanu has only beaten Marketa Vondrousova one time, but it happens to be their only match on grass, and at Wimbledon at the same time. Raducanu defeated Vondrousova in the second round at the 2021 Wimbledon. Vondrousova has beaten her twice since then, including once earlier this year at the Abu Dhabi WTA. Vondrousova is on a roll right now and is coming fresh off a tournament victory in Berlin. She also took down McCartney Kessler in her first match, who was fresh off a tournament victory of her own at Nottingham. Raducanu isn’t as hot as Vondrousova, but she’s 6-4 in her last ten, including two round-of-16 placements and a quarterfinal.
Best Bet to Make
Not only is Vondrousova the favorite in this match, but she surely has to be on the short-list of people who can win the whole thing. While Vondrousova didn’t make it out of the first round last year, she knows what it takes to win the whole thing, and that’s something Raducanu simply doesn’t have in her toolbelt. That said, Raducanu has two round-of-16 showings here at Wimbledon, and most importantly, she also has a victory over Vondrousova at Wimbledon. I agree with the pick of Vondrousova, but Raducanu will be a tough out.
That being said, Vondrousova winning is a value bet for sure.

Osaka – Siniakova: Time 15:30
H2H: 1-1
It has been a while since Naomi Osaka and Katerina Siniakova have played one another. Their last meeting was the French Open in 2019, and Siniakova won that in straight sets. Osaka beat her a year earlier in Doha, but I’m sure she’s much rather pay her back with a victory of her own at a Major. Both women have three prior appearances, but Osaka has progressed the furthest by a single round. Her 2018 third-round finish topped Siniakova’s second-round finish last year. Siniakova is easily the one in better form, and her grass season has been fairly productive so far.

Best Bet to Make
I am a little surprised to see Osaka as the favorite in this match. Not only is she 2-4 in her last six, but Siniakova is 4-2, with two back-to-back round-of-16 finishes. Siniakova is also 38-27 on grass, and 7-3 this year. By contrast, Osaka is 23-19, and she’s 2-2 on grass in 2025. Yes, Osaka does have a tournament title this year, and she’s got a slightly better overall record. It just feels like Siniakova might have something to say about it. I’m going to play it safe and pick Osaka, but I’m gonna be mad if this ends up going the other way.
That being said, Osaka winning is a value bet for sure.

Krueger – Pavlyuchenkova: Time 11:00
H2H: 1-0
The only time Ashlyn Krueger and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova met previously was in the second round at WTA Washington in 2024, which was a highly competitive three-round affair won by Pavlyuchenkova. This time around, both women enter at a low point in the season. Krueger is 4-6 in her last ten matches, Pavlyuchenkova is only slightly better at 5-5 in hers. If there’s a silver lining for one of the competitors, it’s that Pavlyuchenkova is 4-1 in her last five matches. This is as opposed to Krueger at 2-3.
Best Bet to Make
Pavlyuchenkova is the favorite in this match, and I agree with the pick. She’s in slightly better form entering this match. Depending on the outlet, the two are actually pretty close in lines. Some outlets are going to see this match as a draw, and I get that line of thinking, too. Neither woman is playing with the type of confidence and savvy needed to make an impact at Wimbledon, and their last match went three full sets. Unibet probably has the smallest gap between the two at .13, and Betfair scratched the bet. This is the kind of match where you put down a straight bet on a player and just hope it goes the way you want it to go.
That being said, Pavlyuchenkova winning is a value bet for sure.
