ATP Madrid Day 8 Predictions
Matteo Arnaldi vs Frances Tiafoe
Head-to-head – Arnaldi 0-1 Tiafoe
Matteo Arnaldi is on a roll this week after knocking out Novak Djokovic. He backed that win up with another stellar win. He now faces Frances Tiafoe, who is also looking good this week. Tiafoe likes to attack but on clay Arnaldi’s ball seems more heavier. The Italian has been serving well and that should help him reach the last eight.
Prediction: Arnaldi in 3
Gabriel Diallo vs Grigor Dimitrov
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Gabriel Diallo has had a great week and has beaten top quality opponents to reach the Round of 16. The Canadian now takes on Grigor Dimitrov, who will look to the bottom half of the draw and see a real opportunity. Expect Dimitrov to be dialed in and throw in more variety to frustrate the inexperienced Diallo.
Prediction: Dimitrov in 2
Alex de Minaur vs Lorenzo Musetti
Head-to-head – de Minaur 1-2 Musetti
This is easily the best matchup on schedule for Day 8. Alex de Minaur is yet to drop a set this week and same is the case for his opponent Lorenzo Musetti. The Australian has played well this clay court season but he has already lost to Musetti this year in Monte Carlo. Musetti has looked pretty solid this week and he should have the game to get past de Minaur.
Prediction: Musetti in 3
Jack Draper vs Tommy Paul
Head-to-head – Draper 3-2 Paul
This is so close to call. Jack Draper has had a solid tournament and Tommy Paul isn’t too far behind. Both players are great base liners but it is the serve that will be key for this match. Paul has protected his serve well but Draper’s serve is more potent and that should prove decisive.
Prediction: Draper in 3
